UK radio pays per minute the song is on air, so the length matters.

Show money in

Publishing royalties, roughly, per year

Where it comes from

  • Streaming, songwriting side

  • UK radio (BBC)

  • Shows outside Nigeria

  • Nigerian radio, TV and venuesNo number, on purpose

This money is real, but the system paying it is being rebuilt. MCSN is the only society approved by the Nigerian Copyright Commission. COSON disputes that. The old flat payout to members is being phased out during 2026. Nobody publishes what a member actually receives, so we will not guess.

  • Sync (ads, film, TV, games)Possible, depends on placements

One placement can pay more than a year of streams, or none comes at all. That is why we never put a number on it.

Read this: These are estimates built from public industry averages. They are not a promise of income. We have no real royalty statements to check them against yet, so the ranges are wide on purpose.

How we worked this out

Streaming services pay a total per stream, and most of it goes to the recording side. The songwriting side gets a separate, much smaller slice: in the US the law sets it at 15.3% of a service's revenue, out of roughly 70% paid to all rights holders. So we take about a fifth of the per-stream total, then your share of the writing, before anyone else's cut.

UK radio is paid per minute on air, not per play. Everything else we could not source, we left out rather than guess.
